Solomon Kane | preview trailer and thoughts

First take a look at the trailer!

Ok, so things to know about this movie are that it was created by the same guy who brought us Conan: The Barbarian.  Yes the old movie back in 1982 & all it’s follow ups.  For a good, no AWESOME experience go watch the trailer in the link on that name.  The writers name is Robert E. Howard and from what I can tell from this preview he’s done fairly well to keep this kind of sword and fantasy genre modern and relevant.

Something else I just found out is that it’s also loosely based on the books revolving around the Solomon Kane character The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane.  But as someone pointed out in the comments of a review, it’s VERY loosely based on the books.

And yes, I did say ‘review’.  Solomon Kane was just shown at the Toronto International Film Festival ( TIFF ) and a bunch of movie geeks were there for the unveiling.  You can see that full review [HERE].

So what do you think?  Are you going to check this out or what?  I know I’m pretty hyped up for it…just not totally expecting it to live up to that hype completely.

UPDATE!!!

Reader ‘Peggy’ showed us the error of our ways on this article in the comments below.  Robert E. Howard did NOT write this movie because Robert E. Howard is dead!  IMDB felt that since he did create the Conan character and the Soloman Kane character that he should be given credit for the movies those characters appeared in.  I say meh, instead of giving him a Filmography they should give him a Characterography or something to that effect.  He definitely should be aknowledged for it that’s for sure.  So who did write this movie?   It was another “don’t forget my middle initial!” guy named Michael J. Basset that’s who.  Damn you IMDB!  You have failed me for the last time!  Well, today anyway.  <blush>

Robert E. Howard died in 1936. The movie was written by a man named Michael J. Bassett.

Now see Peggy that’s where the ‘magic’ comes in and he wrote it with his dark powers from BEYOND THE GRAVE!!!!

Actually this just proves why I should never throw an article up during the last 15 minutes of my lunch break!

It has been revised. And a host of gratitude goes out to Peggy for showing my erroneous ways.
