Bioshock 2 comes out next Tuesday Feb 9th!  It will be available on X-Box 360 \ PS3 \ PC

Miniatures strategy game company Privateer Press announced today a miniatures battle game based on the classic anime Voltron. The game will be titled Voltron: Defenders of the Universe and will be released this July.  Privateer Press is best known for its Warmachine/Hordes tabletop strategy games and its only slightly less popular Monsterpocalypse game with which Voltron will be compatible. Gameplay is based on classic monster movies where some mutant/mecha/alien attacks and destroys a city. Each player controls a monster and various smaller support units in an attempt to defeat the other monster. Game mechanics include smashing buildings, throwing your opponent into buildings, stomping tanks and infantry with your monster and generally wreaking havoc all over the place.

The addition of Voltron and the Galaxy Alliance vs. Prince Lotor and his robeast Lo-tron of the Drule Empire promises to bring some very entertaining clashes. This marks what may be an important turn for the game where a real anime franchise is coming aboard to a game that is imitating it. The roster of factions in Monsterpocalypse already contains a group of mecha-police that have a group of smaller tanks that form into something much like Voltorn, in addition to dinosaurs that bear resemblance to Godzilla, giant planet eating aliens and elemental beasts to name a few.

This promises to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Hopefully we may will be able to look forward to to other classics joining the ranks. For now I am looking forward to a Voltorn vs Cthul (huge Lovecraftian horrors) battles. Lets see if these lions can take the mind ripping horror!

So about a year ago this new comic book came out with lots of hype riding in with it.  It caught my interest right off the bat seeing as I’ve been into ‘non-super hero’ type comics for awhile now.  Really, Preacher is to blame for that!

The premise behind Kick-Ass is that there are no super heroes in modern day America (duh) and one boy decides to bring his day dreams to life and begin a life of heroics.  Even though he’s a nerdy, non athletic, kid.  You know, like me.

So you say “ok, why now would I be interested in a movie about that?”  Well, take a look at the official trailer for the movie real quick.  If you’ve already seen it, jump on by.

So yeah, either by now you are like “hell yeah, that looks sik as hell bro” or you’re like “ok, I knew he was gonna hit the pavement, and this looks retarded”.  I agree with both parts.  BUT, I only posted this to show that there’s definitely more to it than meets the eye as you’ll see with this second trailer…

So does it have a little more of your attention after that?  I thought so.  But I’m not trying to say that this is some deep psychological message of society or anything…I mean it is titled KICK-ASS.  I just didn’t think the original trailer was doing enough to showcase this comic….er movie.

Finally, the last trailer.  The one that should really make you think…ok, I’m going to see this movie even though Nic Cage has creeped me out lately and sucked mostly…

Kick-Ass hits theaters on April 16th of this year!  I’ll be there!

The model I purchased is the LN46B640.  It is a 46″ Samsung 1080P 120Hz LCD TV which I was able to pick up for $999.  I looked at the LED TV but I couldn’t justify the extra $600.  All I can really say is i’m pumped, it’s absolutely amazing.  Everything from watching movies to playing games is breathtaking.  The 120hz motion is very smooth with the option to adjust it to what looks the best.  I haven’t really had much time to mess with the settings to get it optimized but I have to say that it really looks good out of the box.  Most of the time was putting every movie I have in and watching about two minutes and moving to the next.  We also did quite a bit of gaming on it and it was nothing short of awesome.  I’ve been playing  Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on it and can’t seem to turn it off.  One thing I haven’t tried on it yet is the game mode.  I guess it’s supposed to improve the performance but so far I haven’t found the need to change anything.

So to wrap this up, this is one sweet TV.  It’s even better for the price I was able to grab it for.  So if you’re in the market and want a feature packed TV for a great price, then check out this panel you won’t be disappointed.

Halo: Waypoint

First up, for X-Box 360 fans, you’ll find the new Waypoint tracking system for the Halo franchise.  Basically it’s an app that you’ll load into your 360 Dashboard that will be your operations center for just about any thing you can think of dealing with Halo.

343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor: Waypoint will offer Halo enthusiasts access to audio and video content in addition to community features and the option to follow your “Halo career.”

Bioshock 2

2K Games released this new trailer for the next version of it’s “little sister” saving (or slaying) Bioshock!

Bioshock 2 isn’t due to hit the streets until 2-9-2010 on the X-Box 360 / PC / PS3 but Joystiq got an early preview of it.  Here’s their  full review [GO-->]

Army of Two: ‘The 40th Day’ commercial

Ok if you played Army of Two before you know this game is a dude game all the way.  Of course chicks can jump on and play and have fun, but from a design stand point it’s meant to bring out the fun loving neanderthal in all of us.  If you don’t get what I’m throw’n down, just watch this new commercial for Army of Two ‘The 40th Day’….

The first installment of this game got high praise for it’s co-op mode.  Sit down on the couch with a good friend, pop some beer….SODA, and shoot the crap outta stuff!

Now, let it be known that I laugh at the people who are putting words in Verizon’s mouth and using the term “iPhone killer“.  Even Verizon laughs at you for muttering those words.  Neither Verizon, Google, or Motorola are calling this an “iPhone killer”.  Seriously people, come on.  This is just Verizon’s best attempt at giving their customers an alternative to an iPhone.  Simply enough it’s an “iPhone alternative”.  Period.

Those of us who flat out refused to give into the [horrible] AT&T [yes still biased!] and take the iPhone bait have waited around very patiently for something worthy.  And those of us who are fully entrenched in the Google world have been waiting around even longer it seems!  Watching T-Mobile get Android phone after Android phone has been…annoying at best.

The guys over at Boy Genious Report are the phone ninja’s who have had the inside connection on this project since day one.  And even though Verizon hasn’t released any info on the Droid, they sure have!  Here’s some pics of the proposed, though NOT official yet, Verizon Droid (aka Sholes, aka Tao).
